Directly ahead is a recessed wooden information desk, staffed by rangers, where visitors can pay fees and receive information. To the right is a museum with display topics including wildlife, human history, dark skies, climate/weather, and geology. To the left is a large table topographic map of the Death Valley area. Beyond the map are shelves and tables with merchandise (clothing, books, and educational souvenirs), sold by the non-profit park bookstore, Death Valley Natural History Association. Large double doors lead from the bookstore to an auditorium with seating, a stage, and a projector screen.

Furnace Creek Visitor Center is the central hub for all things Death Valley. Here you can pay the park entrance fee, speak with a ranger about trip plans or questions, participate in the Junior Ranger program watch the 20 minute park film, explore museum displays, and browse the park bookstore.

Furnace Creek Visitor Center

The Furnace Creek Visitor Center is open every day of the year, including holidays. The park film typically shows in the auditorium on the hour and half hour from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

Located in Stovepipe Wells Village, this ranger station is open VARIABLLY. There is a pay station located outside of the building to accommodate paying entrance fees.

Seasonal Closure

In this below-sea-level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death Valley a land of extremes. Yet, each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Lush oases harbor tiny fish and refuge for wildlife and humans. Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life thrives in Death Valley.
