At the East Entrance to the park, Desert View Campground offers a peaceful setting with 49 campsites. Sites accommodate tents or smaller RV’s, or vehicles with small travel trailers (30 ft. total length). Campsites available by reservation only at www.recreation.gov, and can be made up to 6 months in advance between Saturday April 15, through the night of Sunday October 15, 2023. Make reservations online or by phone (877-444-6777). It is possible to make same day call-in and/or online reservations.

Desert View Campground (Reservations Required)

Campsites are available by reservation at www.recreation.gov. The campground will be open April 29, through October 17, 2021. Reservations can be made online or by phone (877-444-6777). 

Due to high demand, Desert View Campground requires advanced reservations during its season: April - October. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. The campground does not hold back any campsites for first-come, first-served camping during peak season and does not have a wait list or call back system.

Mather Campground is located in Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. There are 327 sites. Each includes a campfire ring/cooking grate, picnic table, parking space and room for up to six people, three tents, and two vehicles. There are flush toilets and drinking water throughout the campground. No hookups are available, however there is a free dump station. Most RV spaces are pull-through. Pine loop is a tent-only area where generators are not permitted.

Family campsites range from accommodating a small tent, to 30 foot motor homes and fifth wheels. Family sites are limited to 6 people, three tents and two vehicles per site. There are no hookups available at any of the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill.

Group sites can accommodate 7-50 people and tents per site. 3 vehicles per site. RV and bus parking is prohibited.

Group Site

Hiker/biker are for people on foot or bicycle only. These are non-reservable communal hiker/biker sites (available on a first-come, first-served basis only) and hold up to one person, one tent and no vehicles. If you have more than a one person hiking party you will need to make more than one reservation.

Mather Campground - South Rim

On the South Rim, campground reservations can be made for NPS Mather Campground, located within busy Grand Canyon Village. (historic district, lodges, shuttle buses, visitor center, train etc.)
There are no RV hook-ups at Mather Campground.

A D Stop 18, Campground. 3 minutes. Continuing east along the North Rim Campground Loop Road from the General Store, we immediately come to a fork. To the left (north) is the entrance to the Campground reservation station parking lot. To the right begins the one-way loop into and around the campground itself. Turning left into the Campground reservation lot, two long rows of parallel parking spaces face left and right along a one-lane, roughly 250-foot (75 meter) long central driveway. The cinderblock Campground reservation station is located at the top of the lot at the right. A concrete sidewalk surrounds the station, edged with low, flat boulders. Note a wheelchair-accessible parking space located at the top of the lot at the right, just before the station. A short, concrete ramp leads up from the space to the station sidewalk. At the top of the ramp to the right, note an automated external defibrillator (AED) device mounted in a small metal and glass case on the side wall of the building. Note there is a second wheelchair-accessible, reserved parking area directly across the road from the station at the left. The reservation window juts out from the left-side wall of the small building, with a thick, 12-inch (30 centimeter) deep wooden writing shelf along its entire width at its base (about four feet [one point two meters] high). Note two concrete support pillars set back from the window on the sidewalk at the front left and right. Bulletin boards on the walls on both sides of the wide, central reservation window provide information about weather in the canyon, North Rim Park Ranger programs, and other camping available outside the park. The North Rim Campground has three A D A accessible family campsites. These sites have larger parking areas, are located closer to restrooms, and have raised fire rings. From the three A D A campsites, wheelchairs can access the nearby restrooms. Restrooms have paved ramps to restroom entrances, and each restroom has an A D A compliant stall. Moving from the General Store into the Campground, note a small dirt and gravel area at the left with an information kiosk in the center under some trees. Being mindful of a couple boulders in front of the kiosk, a couple bulletin boards provide information about the weather, North Rim Park Ranger programs, and what’s currently in bloom. In the Spring and early Summer, bitterweed blooms with long, thin yellow petals, alongside the small yellow clusters of creeping barberry, the deep blue to bluish purple, notched flowers of Nelson’s larkspur, the elongated clusters of purple lupine, or the rounded pink and white petals of spreading phlox. Later in the season, the yellow desert blazing star blooms with five broad, bright yellow petals with a tuft of yellow filaments in the center, alongside goldenrod, pink and white buckbrush, wild strawberry, and the showy red tubular, two-inch long, three-lobed blooms of the long leafed paintbrush. The North Rim Campground, open seasonally from May 15 through October 15

The North Rim Campground, scheduled to be open from June 9, through October 15, 2023, is located on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona. The canyon's rustic and less populated North Rim is home to abundant wildlife, hiking trails, and unparalleled views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The facility is at an elevation of 8,200 ft., with pleasant summer temperatures and frequent afternoon thunderstorms.

Family campsites range from accommodating a small tent, to 40 foot motor homes and fifth wheels. Family sites are limited to a maximum of 2 vehicles, 6 people, 3 tents are allowed per site. (A vehicle, which is towing a trailer, pop-up, tent trailer, fifth wheel, or a motor home pulling a vehicle, is considered two vehicles.) There are no hookups available at any of the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill.

Golden Age or Access passport holders pay half price. (The passport number is needed when making reservation and passport holder must be camping at the site). Family campsites range from accommodating a small tent, to 40 foot motor homes and fifth wheels. Family sites are limited to 6 people, three tents and two vehicles per site. There are no hookups available at any of the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill.

Group Sites

Hiker/Bicyclist sites are for people on foot of bicycle only. These sites will not be sold to anyone with a vehicle. Each person in the hiker/bicyclist should know that this is a communal space, and they may be sharing the space. Tent pads, picnic tables, and food storage boxes may be available, depending upon capacity.

The entrance to the campground is open 24 hours. Campers arriving after the campground office closes will find their campsite assignment posted on the kiosk located at the campground entrance, and must confirm their reservation by 8 a.m. the next morning

Closed for the Winter

Trailer Village is the only in-park RV campground with full hookups (sewage, water, and electrical with 30 amp and 50 amp sites available) Open year-round, Trailer Village features paved pull-through sites which can accommodate vehicles up to 50 feet long. Trailer Village is operated by Delaware North. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance. If visiting during the busy season (May through October) making reservations 1 year in advance is recommend. Visit their website to make reservations.
